Niroga Center Yoga Student Spotlight
With Lubov Mazur
Lubov learned about Niroga from Living Social online earlier this year. She had not been a regular practitioner of yoga, but had an injury history which led her to realize that anything leading to increased flexibility and strength would be helpful. She found the atmosphere and people at Niroga congenial, and soon became a part time front desk work trader. She also decorates the chalkboard that is displayed on the sidewalk.
Lubov takes several classes every week, including both morning and evening offerings, welcoming the opportunities to twist and stretch, not painfully or exhaustingly, but within reasonable personal parameters. Other studios she has visited seemed to hold up impossible goals – and intimidating mirrors!
She also finds parking in the area of the studio to be not too daunting. An Albany resident, she serves on the local traffic and safety commission, which interestingly serves to highlight human behavior issues. It seems sometimes removing regulatory requirements like stop signs and signals improves cooperation and consideration among drivers to the point of reducing/eliminating accidents and pedestrian impacts. Studies in Holland and England have shown this.
Lubov also is a painter of landscapes - pastel, oil, and watercolor. She finds it's a great way to remember a place. There's a garage door at 1604 Marin where you can check out her work. On top of all of this, she's a letterpress printer, doing custom work such as wedding invitations and birth announcements. Endlessly fascinating are the people of Niroga!
