Niroga Center Yoga Teachers

Kate Blackman

Kate BlackmanKate was first introduced to yoga asanas and iRest® yoga nidra at The Evergreen State College where she received a liberal arts degree in Contemplative Education and Consciousness Studies. Through her iRest® yoga nidra certification with The Center for Timeless Being and her yoga teacher certification through Niroga, Kate continued to deepen her practice and is now excited to teach for the Niroga community.

iRest® Yoga Nidra class
Kate’s iRest® Yoga Nidra classes provide a framework for deep meditation, self-inquiry and spontaneous healing. iRest® Yoga Nidra is a secular, guided meditation where students are invited to witness and listen to the body, while simultaneously bringing attention to the space in which everything arises, blossoms, decays and dissolves. Different people use this practice in different ways; some to experience ease of being and deeply relax, some for pain reduction and the healing of toxic patterns, others come to inquire into their true nature. Class is suitable for both beginners and seasoned practitioners and led in savasana, a comfortable resting position. Come as you are!

Asana and Yoga Nidra class
Using two frameworks for experiencing ease of being, Asana and Yoga Nidra is focused on witnessing the movements of the body/mind and the ground from which these experiences arise and dissolve.  During the yoga asana portion of the class, students are invited to explore their body/mind through a series of dynamic movements and postures, as well as breathing exercises.  The class concludes with the meditative practice of yoga nidra where students will be invited to sense into the physical body, breath, emotions and beliefs to support deep relaxation, healing and self-inquiry.
