Niroga Center Yoga Teacher Spotlight
With Vanessa Zellmer
NC: What brought you to yoga?
VZ: I began practicing yoga as a way to stay healthy but gentle to my body.
NC: What is your favorite pose? Why?
VZ: I do not have a favorite pose, but at the moment I am working on arm balances because they have always been challenging for me. I get a thrill from the challenge.
NC: How has yoga improved your life?
VZ: Yoga has allowed me to gain focus, reduce stress, stay active, and overall has improved my outlook and life balance.
NC: What does yoga mean to you?
VZ: Yoga means balance to me. It is about growing and changing with each moment to stay in balance throughout your life.
NC: What do you emphasize in your yoga class? What would you most like your students to gain from your class?
VZ: I emphasize the connection of the breath and body. I would like my students to gain a positive sense of self from my classes. I teach so that others can learn to appreciate themselves for what they have in this moment, no matter the limitations or barriers they are presented with. This is what yoga has taught me and it has been ever so powerful in my life.
